I first picked this school because it was low cost and I heard it had a decent science program. Since it is a state college, tuition was very low for in state students. You get, however, what you pay for.

I plan on becoming a PhD later on down the road and after a year and a half here, I am very unhappy with what I got here. I transferred here from a different school and while the previous was a community college, some of my credits did not transfer and when I got here, they considered me a Freshman…mind you, I've had three years of schooling.

Housing is a complete joke. The people in the Residential Life department are rude. I was trying to apply to get out of my housing and asked when I would know (personal issues, had to move off campus), the lady told me verbatim "you don't need to know until the end of the semester and your request is on the bottom of the director's list of things to do….if we release students, the school looses money. This university is a business, we need to make money"

I understand that, but you don't tell a student that who is paying you that money to go here. Not to mention, it takes them a couple days to return a phone call, regardless of the severity of it.

The internet here is another problem. The speeds are sometimes compared to Dial Up and make it very difficult to do homework online. As a chem major I had chemistry programs online that were graded…very often the internet would freeze or make me log my credentials in again, virtually loosing all info I had done.

The people here are a joke as well. If you want a decent education that doesn't revolve around alcohol and pot all the time, please look somewhere else. I can't walk ten feet without hearing some meat head or obnoxious girl talking about how or when they planned on getting "trashed", or smoking up, or how "wasted" someone was. I understand this is college and people do that…but it seems like (and I am not exaggerating), that that's all the people do here. Keene is a cute little city but there is not much to do if you are an active person. I go home every weekend. I would rather be bored home, then sit in my dorm room or watch people nurse their hangovers.

Also, bring your own food and do not get a 19 meal plan. You end up wasting meals and money. The food here is awful and sits in your stomach…and more than half the time you get the same meal a couple days every other week.

I also had to fill out a W4 and I9 sheet in order to work on campus. I filled one out last year, specifically for this year, at a ResLife meeting. Well, I got an email saying I had to fill out the papers because Human Resources did not have them. How can they loose papers with a student's social security number and other personal information on them? Makes me wonder what's going on.

Overall, the student life here, while friendly at some times is very arrogant and air headed and the administration is awful. The faculty is fairly decent and actually try to take an interest in their student's success, however it doesn't make up for the lack of education.

Luckily I am leaving Keene in January.
