I received both my BA and MBA from Western and had a tremendous experience. The campus is hilly and the public transportation is decent but not ideal, so just be aware that you will be walking a lot on this campus. The students here are very outgoing and nice, but your social outlook on this school is predicated on taking the opportunity to meet new people and socialize (just like anywhere else). One of the negative features of the campus is that you are slightly isolated in the corn fields of Illinois. But the benefit to this is school and your fellow students become your primary focus so you are able to have a true college experience on this campus, but cultural activities and the arts are few and far between. They are building a new cultural arts center and have made strides in this direction but it is not like being in a large city setting. The academic reputation of this school is increasing every year and has not been a hindrance in my post college success. The school was once known as a party school but the focus of the administration and the police has been to corral this. This has had a positive impact on the impression of the school my outside companies but it is definitely still a mid tier school. However, the professors are tremendously accessible here and this is not that common at the larger schools. Here you will have access to full time Phd's and not just TAs like at many of the larger schools and most of them are readily available to help students. So, in essence this is not a school that will provide you with a silver spoon to success but you are provided every opportunity to succeed here and will not have $100k in student loans afterwords. Hopefully this will help you in your decision and best of luck on your school choice.
