This is really hard for me to write on here especially because I want to love College of Charleston. I definitely went here because of the gorgeous surrounding city and the beautiful campus. It's no doubt one of the prettiest places I've been to. However, if you are from the north, as I am, be prepared to feel like an outsider and feel like you are not welcomed. The south does still hold a lot of prejudices against the north and the kids reflect this. This school is largely girls and the ratio is a really big problem. Also, so many of the girls here are super superficial and really into their looks. You will go to a class and half the girls will be all dolled up like they are going out. The city has a lot to offer but it's hard to go to a school where the majority of the kids are from the surrounding areas and if you are not from South Carolina, you might as well be a foreigner. I have made friends here who are a lot of fun but to be honest, that's not the only part of college that helps make it a good experience. I have had a lot of ups and downs at this school and I don't know if that's how you are supposed to feel in college. Also, almost no one at this school has any school spirit. More people wear USC and Clemson clothes than CofC. This was really disappointing. There is no football team and the school lacks unity. I would basically suggest if you are from the north you might want to reconsider where you go to school.
