Let me start off by saying that this is a biased review.

This review is based solely on my first freshman semester as a commuter.

Students

Most of them are pretty dumb, not going to lie. I have yet to have an intellectual conversation with somewhere there, that does not involve blunt rolling techniques. I am in the honors program so there are a few exceptions, but think about it. The school has an 85% ACCEPTANCE RATE! However, has an astonishing 50% graduation rate of the freshman class. Pathetic. What does that tell you? They accept anything that breathes. The reasoning for this, is their quick expansion and expensive real estate in Boston. In my honest opinion it's not worth it. Many of them are not accepting and it's like high school all over again. Cliques are everywhere and international students don't talk to American students. I have made one good friend.. And I am VERY outgoing.

Education

Education overall is not bad. My honors professors are very smart and some taught at Harvard and Yale, Suffolk pays them A LOT of money to teach here… Anyways, an interesting fact is that the inventor of the glue stick teaches here. I've heard good things about him. However, they make you take some dumb pre-requisite classes like SU-101… this is a waste of a class and it teaches you about college. It's an insult to your intelligence.

Administration

Seems to be nonexistent, like some eternal god that takes ALL of your money. Everything is extremely overpriced. Poptarts cost $1.75 where you could buy them at a machine for a buck. Also, everything is run by students, so the chances of talking to someone with power is slim to none.

Boston
Amazing city. I cannot stress this enough, Boston is a fantastic city. However, unless your over 21 or have a fake ID, your enjoyment will be limited to lame dorm parties.

Dorms
Cannot argue, but they are some of the best in the country. But the most expensive… it's insane. 14k a year just to live there in a third tier school.

Sports
Non-existent. I went to join the track team, and in a school of 5000 people, only 5 people were on track team. Just did not seem worth it.

Spirit

Also does not exist. No one cares for Suffolk, or has any pride for their school. Ex. I went to a women's bball game cause it was being advertised everywhere as a big event with lots of FREE pizza. Yes, there was free pizza, but there were only 10 people there watching. Very Lame…

Commuting
This attributes to most of misery, if you can avoid commuting, by ALL means live at college. There is nothing worse then spending the most exciting 4 years of your life with your parents. Do yourself a favor and take a out a loan.

Overall

Avoid this school, unless of course this is the only school you applied to. I have one semester left here, then I will probably transfer to Northeastern University.

P.S. You know how they say,

College is what you make of it.
Yes, that is 100% true. But there is nothing to be made of Suffolk. There are only classes, and no real campus, just a lot of buildings everywhere.

Good Luck
