Date: Feb 14 2010 Major: Math (This Major's Salary over time) Stony brook sucks for a plethora of reasons, but most importantly it's vital to pinpoint the fundamental flaws of the school that lead to it's more superficial problems. Fundamentally, being a poorly funded commuter school with heavy emphasis on math and science, it's already going to kind of suck. Add the complete lack of name-recognition outside of NY, awful food, very excessive number of international East and South-Asian students, shitty grading system, super easy admissions, complete lack of fraternities on campus, asshole administration, overpriced fees that don't seem to get used, overpriced bookstore, boring-ass surrounding area, generally lame student body, indifferent non-English-speaking faculty and TAs(in many cases anyway), disturbing lack of single half-decent-looking girls, complete lack of anything resembling school spirit, shite parties, shite weather, crappy dorm maintenance, crime, and COMPLETELY VACANT WEEKENDS and you have a recipe for epic disaster.I don't understand how someone could feasibly enjoy Stony Brook, but I suspect that if they did they just never experienced anything better.
