I found Mason to be a good choice for me. I came into college wanting a solid, well-rounded education, so I chose challenging courses—Russian history, Russian language and literature, upper-level writing courses, logic, and so on. If you look at college as more of a learning process rather than looking at the end result (I must get my diploma to get a good job), you'll find Mason to be on par with any good college/university. And one big plus about the Mason?s campus is it's very diverse. So if you're noting you're a white, middle-class student, then a red flag needs to go up. Do not come to Mason if you do not like diversity and wish to hang around with nothing but white kids. You'll be poorer for it, however.

commentUmmm… if you're going to be praising diversity, then maybe you shouldn't single out and bash a specific ethnic group, even if it is white middle class. You really arn't showing any tact and are showing that you yourself are not a completely tolerant person. Honestly your comment makes our school look bad.
I will single out a close-minded student who makes a point of noting she is from a white family. The comment screams xenophobia.
responseThe original post was in response to a student who says she won’t get aid because she comes “from an upper middle class, white family AND being a girl from the suburbs.” So people who are of another ethic background, perhaps African-American, who are lower class and from the city will get aid? And when people speak of ethnicity in today’s global society, they’re not talking about rich white kids.
To the first responder: Learn to understand constructive criticism. Students who make a point of noting they are white need to be called out. I am tired of students bashing Mason because other than English can be heard spoken on campus. If a student points out she is white, she needs to transfer to a white-bread school, like JMU.
responseAhhhh I apologize, I didn't realize you were responding to someone elses ignorance. However, I still belive you shouldn't respond to racism with racism. An example being the white-bread comment. I don't know, that way just doesn't seem constructive to me. Again I apologize
