Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I have been a student here since 2001. In my own personal experience and dealing with this college while trying to finish my degree here these past few years as a double major and minor. I have run into some very self centered, critical, judgmental, close mined and ignorant people here. Some are the student body; others are staff members that work in different college offices and in different departments on the campus. But, I have also run into some very nice, friendly and understanding people to in these different areas to.

But, what I feel needs to be changed is: There is a major lack of communication at times in all departments between staff, professors and the student body. Some people in some departments are not always willing to work with you, help you or explain things you. But some do. But, there is sometime a major lack of communication between departments about courses that a student has completed already or doesn?t need or what they still need to be complete to graduate. Sometimes then this leaves the student body to have run around talk with a lot of people in different areas in trying to get these issue resolved or handled. I my self have rain into issues that happen between the registrars department, facial aid department and some other college offices.

The financial aid office is one of them. They are not always been corporative, understanding or friendly at time. For an example if they get in their head they dislike you for some reason. They will try to get you out of their office fast, tell you there nothing they can do, can not help you. If you?re a student who has major learning disabilities, the office of disability services will tell you that they do not have to follow an I.E.P. or give you the services that you need to achieve in your classes. They will say that they have to treat all students here equally and give them the same services across the board as we are giving you; we have to do for them to. This is not always fair or applies to all of them because some disabled students here need to have different services or programs to be able to be offered to them to achieve. Yes this college has tutoring. But, sometime the tutors all talk to you as the same way the professor in your class does. Some learning disabled students need to have things explained to them differently or simpler so they can grasp it or understand it. This then ends up leaving you still confused about your classes and how to study or grasp the material you?re being tested on.

The college says they have an open door policy and if any student needs or has a problem that they can come to any staff member, department head, and provost or office manger to get help. But when you do some department take it personal and then this has a negative reaction towards you to happen. When you come back to people you know and trust to get help or assistance. They think in their head that you?re attacking them or threaten them on how well they were doing their job. I have been talked to in a very rude way at times by some of the staff member here and can be unfriendly at times. It was not a pleasant experience. If you complain about how you were treated some people here take it personal and are out to get you. By lying about you or over execrating an issue and making it out bigger then what it was or is.
