Is there hazing of freshman at Hamilton? Does the football team haze freshman players? |
Major: Math (This Major's Salary over time)
I will graduate from Hamilton College in May 2010 as a math major and creative writing minor. I can't say enough good things about my four years at Hamilton. My courses and professors were beyond engaging. All professors are required to have office hours in addition to class time. It's not uncommon to see half of the class in office hours hanging out with the professor and working on the homework. All professors are extremely approachable, and invest a lot of time in the success of their students. Hamilton has an open curriculum. In other words, there are no distribution requirements aside from three writing intensive classes and physical education. Giving students the opportunity to choose their own courses, in combination with helpful advising, defines the classroom environment. You won't find a class where people aren't interested in the subject. Nobody is taking a course because they have to in order to graduate. This fosters an engaging and active classroom.Outside of the classroom, Hamilton offers plenty of opportunities to its students. There are tons of extracurricular activities that are easy to get involved in. Whether its intramural sports, a quidditch match, or an improv performance, there is always something to do on Hamilton's campus. Hamilton is a small school with little to no bureaucracy. If you have an idea for a club or activity, all you need is a little motivation. In my time at Hamilton, I have seen the development of clubs like "The People who Like to do Fun Things","GNAR Club" (for everything Gnarly), and the formation of student bands and performance groups. Aside from some bad weather from time to time, there is nothing to complain about. I don't see how anybody could be unhappy at a place like Hamilton.
