Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm a Junior Education major, and I know this is the best place for me. Jax State is awesome! I have a minor learning disability, but with very little help, I have managed to succeed and get good grades here. My faculty knows I have a minor processing deficit, and I can awalys go to them with any problems or difficulties I might have. I would never get this kind of great attention at any school in Georgia (I'm from Metro Atlantra).

Sure, the town won't rock your socks off, but has what I need (shopping like WalMart, restaurants) and I'm less than 2 hours from home in Cobb County, GA (go Lassiter!). If it were a party town like Athens or Statesboro, that's too many distractions. Everything you need to succeed is right here at Jax State.

Some kids have told me their first visit to campus didn't give them that gut feeling they were looking for. I can understand that, as it's only now that major upgrades are being made to some of the buildings. But you have to dig beneath the surface- there are really good students & faculty/staff here. It is a family envronment, and you will be surrounded by folks that care about you. Take advantage of special services, counseling, and the easy accessibility to your professors. Give Jax State a second look and take the time to talk to people- you will warm up to the place very quickly. If you want to fit in and succeed, this is the #1 place to go.

As a member of the Marching Southerners, I have lived in Dixon Hall the entire time. Nothing fancy, but such a family environment. Next year, I will stay on campus again and move into the stadium dorm (it's beautiful!).

Get involved in some campus life (even the frats and sorority folks are pretty nice compared to the morons in Athens). There is something for everybody here, and those who don't like it never gave it a chance. There's almost 12,000 students here I think, and that;s the perfect size to offer amenities of a large state university and still give you attention you will not get in Athens, Statesboro, Auburn, or Tuscaloosa. You get your money's worth here, and can even get in-state tuition if you do what the admissions counselors tell you to do. College is about growing up, learning, and being repsonsible. This place is perfect for that, I can assure you. If you come to JSU and do that, you wont be sorry!
