I feel it is important to warn perspective students against Suffolk. Of all the choices I have made in my life, coming to this school is by far the worst decision I have ever made. This school is full of false promises and misery. A large amount of the students who go here have been rejected from their first choice schools and have enrolled here as a last resort. To start off the food here is truly disgusting. A few members of the kitchen staff are truly amazing and try as best they can but the food company, Sodexo is the root of the problem. The food is greasy and lacks any good flavor. There are only about 4 options for meals every night, compared to other schools that have more options. I know it is cafeteria food but I still expected more. Suffolk?s miller caf? even failed a health inspection about a year ago which I find unacceptable. They also had to stop serving Sushi because they failed to transport it from buildings in accordance to state law. The food here is a shame and a major strike against this school.

A high point of this school is there community service. This school proves their dedication to helping the local community and is outstanding at their services. They have alternative spring break trips every year that are free for participating student. If you do chose to go here I would definitely suggest getting involved in SOULS, you would definitely benefit from this program.

The math department at this school is a complete disgrace. I, along with my friends have all had a horrible experience with this department. Majority of the professors do not speak English as their first language. This language barrier makes it very hard for students to ask questions and properly learn. My math professor also did not follow the universities rules, and would make up his own exams, which often times covered material not meant for our class. This particular professor never showed for his office hours and constantly cancelled class. This department is just an example of subpar the education is here.

It would seem that just about anybody could get into Suffolk. I would argue that Suffolk over enrolled in order to try and get more money. This school has accepted some people who never should have been allowed to come to college. When in class I feel as if no students can productively add to discussions. People who work at Suffolk have told me that this current freshman class is by far the worst they have ever seen. There are so many people with drug and alcohol problems, and these problems trickle down through the dorm. This problem is more than normal college drinking and partying because it has become very extreme. Because of these peoples actions the building is constantly being destroyed and vandalized, which everyone has to pay the price for. Guest privileges were taken away for a while and all students will be charged in their bill for the damage caused by theses students.

I would warn anyone from coming to this school. Based on everything I was told at orientation and at info sessions I thought I had made a great choice, however I was incredibly wrong. This school promised that there were great professors who really cared but majority of the professors I have cancel class often and can?t be bothered to meet outside of class for help. They also promised small class sizes and that there would be no more than 45 students in one class, however I am enrolled in a class with 65 students and nothing is accomplished or learned in this class. The atmosphere here is incredibly toxic and not productive. If you are hoping for a school where you can get a good education, this is not the school to come to. I am transferring from this hell at the end of the year. I cannot warn you enough to avoid Suffolk at any cost.

Responses
responseI graduated from Suffolk University in 1995 with a BA in Criminology and History. It was a great school. As in any school you work hard and the results will prove successful. I got into 2 law schools and accepted to graduate school.I am now an adjunct instructor with Southern New Hampshire University. Suffolk was my foundation to be successful.
