My advice is to visit first. This place is UGLY! Embarrassed is how I would describe myself when friends from other schools come and visit.

Are you telling me you did not visit the school before you enrolled? Now that's just silly. I don't attend JMU, and I suspect you do not attend as well, but your response, if true, means you did not plan your college selection carefully. You have no one to blame for your embarrassment but yourself.

Firstly, the guy who commented before me right kind of right, but he's still just trying to be a dick about it cause you left a negative comment. don't bother listening to him.

second, as much as i dislike and complain about jmu for its various shallow, idiotic, VERY immature and homogeneous students, i actually am gonna disagree here—JMU probably has one of the most beautiful campuses i've ever seen. UVA and UMW have good ones too, but not quite as good. If u want an ugly campus, check out the following in comparison to JMU: VCU, VA Tech, ODU. Yuck.

JMU campus is at best…meh. I think that if the school didn't advise as much as they do in regards to the supposed scenic beauty of the campus, it would've been more impressive. However, my expectations were very high before my first visit and I was let down. What can I say, I was promised Disney World and all I saw was the county fair.
