I just recently graduated from Oakland and am attending graduate school at another institution. I went to Oakland all four years of my undergrad and stayed on campus all for years. Socially, it is a little harder for commuters, especially those who just come to class and go straight home. There are a number of ways commuters can get involved—join an academic/profesional org, go out to basketball games, join a club, and many more. Naturally, it's easier to meet people if you live on campus, but commuters can find ways to make friends too. Academically, OU is up there. It's a really good school and you get exactly what you put into it. A lot of people that I graduated with came to OU with the intention of transferring to MSU or U of M, however they loved OU so they stayed. While at OU, I worked with students on Academic Probation and I gurantee you that 99% of the people that you hear say they are leaving OU are leaving because they couldn't make the grade. Most people who leave OU don't leave because they hated it, they leave because they spent more time socializing than in class and had to leave. They usually transfer to a community college or Wayne State.
