The psychology department is just horribleFeb 10 2014Psychology
The psychology department is just horrible. Please reconsider and save yourself if going to a new university! I have personally been teaching courses for a while now and that is the best thing I have done here. My research is fun and I think it really adds to the field since nobody has done it before. But again, the department here is horrible. Office politics are sick. The department of psychology is divided and fight like children. The dean of the department is very intelligent but is unable to control his staff and the students needs are not being met. I feel horrible for our undergraduates who are going through this place like a factory. Good luck to everyone if you go here, you will need it to survive the extra level of department crap.
This is a jokeOct 19 2013Math
This is a joke. Stayed 5 years there and got out without a degree. As long as you teach their stupid classes they simply don't care about you. Only 2-3 people have graduate students, the rest of the professors do not want anything to do with you.
Research Topic(s): what thesis ?
I tried to complete my doctorate in theNov 25 2011Nursing
I tried to complete my doctorate in the school of nursing. It has been a task. My chairperson was completely useless to me and the administration backed her. She would not answer my e mails for weeks to months if at all. They act like it is a priviledge that we are in their school. They are not ranked very high in nursing. In fact, they are near the bottom. Catch a clue! Mediocrity is alive and well in the school of nursing! They will never be anything more than mediocre. I am sorry I went here. Everyone I talk to feels the same way. What a waste of my money!

It is a good university with good diversity
I don't even know where to start onJun 16 2008Mechanical Engineering
I don't even know where to start on this one...Let me just say that the chair of the mechanical engineering department is probalby competent as a scholar, but what he makes up in brilliant research, he loses in running his show. I have had him request two forms from me, only to have him lose them. Even other staffers in the university have warned me about his lack of care and organization. The man is incompetent. He should stick to research.

Secondly, his choice for guest professors is as good as his work as a chair. He chose an arrogant, unprepared engineer from GM to act as a professor. The man taught a masters class like it was second grade. The material was so basic, that people stopped showing up to class. Getting a good grade had more to do with how the man's day was going, than the material a student wrote. I quit U of M Dearborn to transfer to Oakland and I strongly regret my decision. I would strongly advise everyone to not apply to the Mechanical Engineering department at OU.

My experience at OUMay 15 2006Business - Management and Administration
My experience at OU has been a very positive one. The Graduate program is challenging if you take advantage of it. I'm afriad some may try to slide, and many may get away with it, but it's a shame to not take advantage of the experience of the faculty (they're great).
i have seen so much during my timeAug 02 2004Other
i have seen so much during my time at ou this school is so racist it is sickening having worked and taken several courses at the university I have witnessed the manner in which they practice their bigotry I have seen many good minority students and staff members mistreated, abused, framed, fired, spoken about disrespectfully in staff meetings this school is notorious for putting token minorities in key positions in the school to give an artificial appearance of being progressive these minorities are forced to adhere to the discriminatory, racist and deceitful policies that criple their own kind so those chosen by the university to serve this purpose are minorities they feel are safe, ignorant to their own culture, conservative politically or at least willing to act like it and have uncle or auntie tom qualities I would not recommend this school if your a minority or a progressive non-minority you will be made to feel uneasy and shafted one way or the other by some professors and most of the administration take it from a white guy who opposes racism!
