Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I am actually studying abroad in Europe as a junior, and every now and then I have been missing my life at NU, which was not the case before my departure…..I cursed my life for the past 2 years while studying for midterms/finals at NU, that's the reason why I was desperately trying to get good grades and get into a study abroad "sweet escape". Considering the fact that I worked so hard at a school that people from the east coast: O NorthEASTern? or from the west coast: O, Stanford-rejects? or from other nations: O, is that UChicago that you are talking about?!Academic stress, especially for my major, as a science/engineering major, you have to be 1) very smart 2) very determined and competitive (pre-med) 3) prepared for sleepless nights to attain above B+ grades. I really hadn't prepared myself to be on this battlefield, imagine 2midterms and 1final for each class in 9 weeks. But then, when I studied abroad right now, having visited Oxford and a lot of other colleges in the EU. I am very grateful that I have chosen Northwestern. I have the lake, I have the beaches, North and South, I have SPAC and the Chicago suburban location with free shuttles. Also, I bleed purple and I am a wildcat, we have Big Ten football and a great basketball team, there's nothing like that here in Europe at all! Also, the flexibility of switching in between colleges, changing majors/minors, it's SO easy and the faculty/college advisors are really always there to help you out. The busy and outstanding professors are really there to help you, 24/7 replying to last minute emails and one-on-one help sessions. It is something that you will never get from colleges of the same tier, not to say NU is a private college. Now that I am a junior and I am just looking forward to enjoy my last year in NU this coming fall. Everyone's freshmen year's tough, very very rough too! It's just a matter of fact that, every NU student should take a quarter abroad, do something out of NU and then fall in love with NU again. I can tell you, everyone had heard me cursing about my life at NU like most of the red comments before my post, but now, I am ready to fall in love with NU. It's gonna be a COMPLICATED relationship.
