Date: Aug 22 2011 Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time) Drake university in the late 1950s and early 1960s was a racist school. The greek system was seperated by ethnic and religious sections, In fact
the average student was from a small town or suburb and was ignorant of
big city urban life. Most students associated New YTork with "Jews" which was
so absurd it defies further explanation. My roomate was Jewish so therefore\in the eyes of these future Babbits and rubes, I was~!! Whe I rushed for all the fraternities, only the Jewish frat(Imagine the concept of
fraternity limited to your religion) who offered me as a member. The athletes were even worse. Drake tried to keep them holed up in a couple
dorms, not to scare other students away. The only students that were
mature were the vets. They understood like much better than th eother students. Now, abour academics: The school was fairly good when you
discounted all the shacks that held classes and were named temporary
buildings. In summary, I.m sure Drake has a more diverse student population
fifty years later, but I should have taken Uncle Tom's advice and gone to Columbia.
