Newsweek calculated colleges' return on investment. The top five schools in the country? Princeton, Amherst, Dartmouth, Williams ? and Holy Cross. The College of the Holy Cross is one of the most academically rigorous and best value colleges in the country, according to Newsweek?s 2011 college rankings. Holy Cross was fifth in the nation for ?Return on Investment? and came in at number 22 on the magazine?s ?Most Rigorous? list.

To come up with their rankings, which were divided into 25 categories, Newsweek ?looked at what American kids really care about these days, and also pulled from sources including the National Center for Education Statistics, the College Board, the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, the Sustainable Endowment Institute, a data partnership with the Washington Monthly? (which recently ranked Holy Cross 39th on their list of the top liberal arts colleges.)
