I started Mansfield University for the price in 2008. I started at $5,000 a semester as a New York res ( lower than out of state tuiton. ) By my final semester tuition went to over $9,000 a semester. I lived in a dorm. Dorm life is very good if you have nice neighbors and a good roommate. My first roommate was horrible but my second is one of my good friends. Manser dining hall food is eatable. I studied French education and I took German. Monique and Julia were really great profs and it was sad to see them leave. Dr. Holtman is a really great prof as well and he has very good teaching methods. The langauge progam was put into monatorium as well as Physics in 2010 even after heavy protest from students, which meant I had to study abroad to finish my courses. I loved my experiece studying abroad with ISEP. One issue about studying abroad is the schools' 50% policy which means you can not take more than 50% of your courses outside of MU incliding studying abroad. I had to petition to allow me to finish. Most of my classes at MU were very easy. The Education department, it seemed that all classes were basically Introducation to Education. If you can understand the theories in Introducation to Education you will not have a problem but I hated the repetitiveness of all the education courses. Dr. Benjamin is a horrible prof who puts most students down and does not seem to like Americans. Most students do not pass her class with more than a C. The foriegn language education majors need to take the ACTFL exam. None of us were told we had to take it and I wasn't prepared to take it from the courses I took. I could not go to school Spring 2012 because I could not student teach and because I needed to wait 5 months for my transcripts to transfer from Europe. I now have my B.A in French which I can not find a job, so I am applying to Grad School.—The marching band is very good open to all majors. The Mounties are going to the Olympics! On a final note, I would only suggest this school to those in music, nursing, criminal studies, and elementary and special education.
