Although everyone has a different experience at Bridgewater, mine has certainly not been too great. The town of Bridgewater is literally a ghost town. I'm an outgoing and social person who likes to have fun on the weekends but the parties are lame, small, boring, and almost always get broken up by the cops a little after midnight. There is literally nothing to do in this town on the weekends…the most exciting thing to do is go out to eat at the 99 up the road. There's no school spirit at all. The greek life is so tiny, stupid and pointless they have to practically beg people to join. The school seems lively during the day but it's absolutely dead after classes are over and on weekends due to the fact that it's mainly commuters and people who go home on the weekends. Like most people who came here, I came here because I didn't get into my top schools and a lot of the private schools I got into ended up being too expensive. I'm definitely trying to transfer out for my sophomore year. College is a once in a lifetime experience and I can't imagine spending the next 4 years here. Some people here do really like it, but most of those people really wanted to come here in the first place and are on a sports team. The school is also ridiculously strict. The cops arrest so many students on the weekends for being caught merely in the presence of alcohol, it's ridiculous. Bags are checked every single time you enter the dorms by security whether it's a weekend night or in the morning after breakfast, it feels like prison. The majority of people I talk to want to transfer out and only came here because it seemed like one of the better Mass state schools and it's affordable compared to private schools. If you can't afford a private school, go to UMass Amherst where all the students love it.
