Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred in to Baldwin Wallace University from The University of Toledo. To put things into perspective, I really didn?t like UT. I?m not a big public university kind of guy. So I entered into BW as a transfer student.People do tend to form clicks here, but that doesn?t mean a person can?t enter into a group or be part of more than one. One thing that really separates BW from the pack is how incredibly open-minded AND incredibly close-minded the student population can be. The campus is pretty much bipolar.On the left we have excellent conservatory and theatre students (stemming from the success of the Cleveland Orchestra) who tend to be on the liberal size, but we also have a huge athletic program (Stemming from the close proximity to the Cleveland Browns Training Camp, not so successful, but still a great learning environment for the those students). The athletic student tends to be on the other end of spectrum with everything.BUTThe conservatory students pump a health dose of creativity into students from every department. Whether you?re an English major like me or in the Neuroscience department or even if you play football, music brings people together. Creativity is an essence of the liberal art education.I am a student, but my work-study job is involved with the University.I can say that the people who work behind the scenes really want you to succeed. This is awesome, but can be a bad thing as well. BW will baby you to graduation. This can be helpful to a driven person or detrimental to a lazy one.All of my professors in the English Department have been excellent. If you are a student who wants to try hard, they will push you. This is something that I love about my education here. The Cleveland metroparks, just a short walk away, are excellent and perfect for relaxing on a Sunday.There ARE ups and downs to every university. This one is Perfect for me and I don?t expect it to be like that for everyone.
