Keep in mind that those 100 level courses you take in any college are little commercials for the rest of the curriuclum. We were told we would do so much with the sociology degree because it studied the structure of organizations with a promise to learn even more next year. However, we repeated the same material again and again and there wasn't much to learn. A professor once advised that "degreed status" will get one in to any field. The truth is that this status does nothing when employers openly ask, "What can you do for me?" looking for that hard skill that was supposed to be developed.

The professors weren't organized, they used the same textbooks. While we are endlessly studying Freud Marx and Weber, many in other schools were actually learning how to do something. This program just brought me more debt.

The placement department stated it best to me, "We just don't place sociology majors!" It was explained that the liberal arts programs at OU might study they what, when, where but not the how; that was for the grad school. Then they started their pitch for the grad school. Once they got their money, the didn't care whether or not I was employed. They promised a great deal and they failed miserably.
