Just read you comment about U of M. We toured yesterday and that was one of my concerns, TA's etc., teaching classes. We were told NO GI's teach regular classes, only co ordinate discussion groups. Our son is thinking of computer science/math, are there still GI's teaching the sciences? Many thanks for your comments, best wises. |

If you can go to some other smaller university, I would advise strongly that you do so. All the classes are taught by GSIs in overcrowded discussion sections and professors are all focused on their own research and don't give sh**t about your success as a student. Because of that, overall most of the classes are a waste of time and money. Even though I have had some few and far between positive experiences at UM, like some of the smaller classes and research opportunities, I think it was a big mistake to come here overall.
