Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
Certain departments at SVA are stronger than others. The Computer Art department is probably one of the strongest departments in the school. They bring on amazing visiting lecturers and have top notch faculty who are currently working in the field at top studios. SVA also gets a lot of nominations by Siggraph for work done and for the students' thesis. At the last Siggraph award ceremony, they had more thesis nominees than that of any other school in the New York area. In fact there may have been more nominees than all of the other schools combined. It is a great program, and I highly recommend it.The thesis advising was excellent too as was the great facilities. They not only have very current and powerful computers but a great render farm. Basically everything that a student needs to learn all aspects of the animation pipeline are available. You can also tailor your education to either become a strong generalist or to become strong is a particular area of the animation pipeline.Bottom line: I would HIGHLY recommend SVA for grad work.
