After attending Pace University for one semester, am I more than happy to be leaving for the spring. I chose Pace because I wanted to live in the city, and I didn't get into NYU. If you are just settling to live in the city, DO NOT. I'll start with the students at Pace. Basically, if you aren't gay or aren't a drug addict do not come to Pace. Over 75% of the boys I met there are gay, which is okay, but becomes a little much. The students constantly are bragging about their drug use and I haven't met one person who doesn't smoke weed. Another issue I have is the amount of people who smoke cigarettes. There are always students smoking on benches and all around the school. The school should be humiliated by this and the image that it is giving their school. Pace portrays itself as a clean environment, with well rounded educated students and that is wrong. The liberalism at this school is overbearing, and if you don't agree with other they will look down upon you. The teachers try to force their liberal ideas down your throat and if they you have any decent background or values they will not like you. The teachers I had were researchers who can barely qualify as teachers. Instead of gaining any knowledge here I was forced to spend hundreds of dollars on books written by my professor's friends. I can honestly tell you I have not learned one thing at Pace. I was forced to read books on how police treats black and hispanics wrong and so do white people. My teacher made any white middle-class student seem like a horrible person. I never had any work and I truly believe the education at Pace is horrific. The amount of drinking I have witnessed at this school is something I didn't even know existed. The students here are always drinking and making tons of noise. I have even witnessed RA's getting drunk with students on their floor. There is absolutely no discipline at Pace. The security lets all drunk students back into the buildings no matter what. They promote the school as having a top notch security program, meanwhile they'll let just about anyone into the buildings. The school does not care about the students AT ALL. All they want is your money and will charge you for just about everything. I locked myself out of my room once and they charged me $30. Pace University is an absolute disgrace. It is an institute for misfit teenagers, and it robs you of thousands of dollars. Do NOT go to Pace University.
Responses
responseI'm also a transfer student to Pace and this is my second semester here.
Even though I'm in a junior status I'm considering transferring once again. As you have mentioned, there are absolutely no rules or regulations in this school. For me, dorming is a nightmare- my roommates bring in random people and they're always snorting drugs, and of course, if you don't have the same mind set, you're looked down upon. I also agree that all Pace wants is your money… They find every single little excuse to charge you money, and yes, the books they make you read are usually written by professors' friends… Long story short, I couldn't agree more with your view and story. I came here to be in New York, now I'm placed in a position of now knowing what to do anymore.
Congratulations on transferring!
