I am a current student as well and I whole-heartedly endorse this review of the nursing program. This nursing program is failing its students. They spin a good song to lure you in and then fail to live up to their promises. NCLEX scores prove this with less than 80% passing on the first try when the major state universities are in the mid to up 90's. Then they have the audacity to blame it on the quality of the students. |
Thank you both for your reviews—they confirm my impressions after visiting George Mason this summer with my daughter. We loved the campus, but the poor NCLEX rates left us wondering whether the nursing program is viable. We will skip applying to the school, despite its great location (my daughter wants to escape Florida and loves DC). |
Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
If your applying to the nursing program…DON'T. This program is in a tailspin with NCLEX pass rate dropping instead of rising. The nursing program is trying to keep up with the times and try new approaches and failing miserable. Professors do know what online assignments they are giving because they have just been told to do them and have never bother to look at them. As for the lectures, you might as well never attend, reading the book is a far more valuable way to spend you time. Finally, the quality of nursing lab and clinical experiences is incredibly lacking. This nursing program is trying to teach you how to pass a test instead of being a real nurse and failing miserably. It is sad to see the culture of failure that is developing amongst the students.
