DBU is not your typical University because it is a private Baptist school. Those that don't like it here, fail to recognize that this is not a secular school, rules will be enforced, and you can not do the same things that normal colleges do. If you're looking for a party school DBU is not it. If you're looking to drink, smoke, party on campus then DBU is not the place for you to be, don't come or you will not enjoy the experience. You will not get the full "college experience" going to this school, but you will grow tremendously in your faith, and become a better person after being around all of the positive influence around campus. Generally, most people are friendly here, and the staff is very helpful. It is a very small school so you will get to know everyone on campus definitely if you live in the dorms. Dorms are fun you meet some of your best friends living in your hall. There are room checks each week just for the heads up, but they aren't bad, just make your bed on those days and you'll be fine. The food is only good on tour days, and occasionally the cafe will surprise you with some great food. There are a lot of hills so be prepared to be tired walking around campus, but it will keep you in shape so no freshman 15. Most people go home on the weekends, because there isn't much to do on the weekend besides sit in your room, or hang with friends in their room. This will help you bond with people really quickly so you can make long lasting friendships. Besides the sororities, fraternities, and intramural sports there is not that many extra curricular to be apart of. You have to dig real deep to find them, but you could start your own. This school is great because you get to interact with people on a deeper level with the word of God as the base. Most people are just on their phones during Chapel time. The campus is absolutely beautiful so go outside every once and awhile. Overall, DBU is an amazing school, it has its negative side like all schools, but if you come here you will get an excellent education, and learn so much about God, and even about yourself that it will leave you wanting to learn more. However, it is very expensive to go here, so I would suggest applying for scholarships, financial aid early, and getting a job.
