Major: Physics (This Major's Salary over time)
l'll start by saying your experience will widely be contributed to the type of person you are. As others have duly pointed out, if you're a sports person, and like drinking. This is the school for you. It may be a very party-oriented school, but don't be fooled. Many students balance all of their partying with their studying pretty well. There are a decent amount of noteworthy programs at this school. For one, the teaching program, athletic training programs, and bio programs are pretty great. However, while these departments are the outliers, there a lot of departments that are lackluster to say the least. Physics, math, english, music and art department are underdeveloped to say the least. To clarify, this is not to say that there aren't many good professors in those departments. In the physics department, the professors are very experienced and from prestigious colleges. But the physics community is weak. At least right now, it seems the students are not excited about going into the world of science and physics. Thus, I can see although the professors evidently care for the few students who want to succeed in this field, they are a little reserved because they know that a lot of times, there words fall onto deaf ears. As for the community, it is an unfortunate truth that besides the bars, the town is poor. And so, any fun is minimized to getting drunk and house parties. The best way to enjoy this is school is if you are passionate about one of their better programs and when you get here, you focus most of your time into that. Then surely you will find other people in your major doing the same thing and you will have friends that make it worth it. The problem with that is, that its hard to be friends with people not in your major since everyone is selfishly (and rightfully so)thinking about how they need to study to get a job after they get out of college. Ultimately, this school can be great for individuals who can be dedicated to their major, and dedicated balancing the very typical drama that comes with a party orientated community. A plus side to that is there are so many good looking people. Yet, for someone like me who is unable to cope with a partying lifestyle, someone who needs more than a superficial community to grow. This is not the place for you. As someone with too many interests and not enough meaningful outlets to satisfy me; the result is many nights to ponder whether college is worth it at all.
