Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I am an electrical engineering student at Mason. At first, during freshman year, I thought the school was not that great academically. It took me some time to realize just how many options mason has. I think a lot of people are just ignorant of the opportunities offered on campus, that is opportunities for students that are here to study, and do well academically.

Mason offers an undergraduate research program called OSCAR where students are payed up to $5000 to do their own research with an advisor. Very few students do it because most students don't care, but through research I have met so many people and have learned more than in my courses.

When it come to the engineering program I would have to say that it is getting better. It is no lie that a lot of graduates go on to make a ton of money, mostly because of the location, but also because of the staff that teaches them. Nearly all the professors come from prestigious backgrounds, such as MIT, GIT, CIT, UCLA and most of them do research. I think these professors make the courses more rigorous but in a good way. Alot of students will complain about how hard the courses are, but in the end most teacher curve grades to some extent.

All in all, if you work hard at this school and have a passion for what you study, you are guaranteed success in your career. I think this applies to most schools, If you take advantage of the program and make yourself known with your academic skills, you can go really far. Mason has a lot of students who are only here to party or just get the degree with all C's. Those are the students who are ignorant of all the possibilities they can go for.

social life is pretty bad, unless you are in a frat, like I am. Join a frat if you want to have some decent social life. You can get away with going to parties if you have a strong and large group of friends, but if you really want to have a blast, I say join a frat or social organization. There are hundreds of organizations on campus and its very easy to start your own.

Other than that, the school is good. Its not the best school in the country but I think most people like it here, and I think its just fine.
