Suffolk has done way more to hurt me than help me. And it's so sad that my life is the way it is now - I had no idea a university could do so much damage. And I definitely didn't see myself being in this position in life.

Before going in, I envisioned myself leaving with great skills and jobs lined up waiting for me. Well, it's been almost 3 years and I'm currently unemployed and never had one job that related to my major. I'm so depressed I've lost passion in all my hobbies. When I got my degree, it all suddenly hit me - how Suffolk just DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. They handed me my degree, told me "thanks" and tossed me to the side like used goods. As an International Student who paid so much for a "great education", I feel like I simply wasted the prime years of my youth doing things that helped me in no way whatsoever. I'm 27 now, and seriously depressed. I hold a lot of resentment towards Suffolk.

I got really scared about life in my last semester, when, as a Film Major, my last four ever classes included "Biology" and "Chinese Food in America" - a class where you just learn about Chinese food, literally. They were requirements that I felt were so unnecessary. Especially when I felt totally unprepared, the fact I knew NOTHING about the Film world, or how to get a job in it.

Never once did I ever sit with someone at Suffolk that told me how to prepare for a career or ever once see any services offering that kind of help. I feel like I just don't match up to anyone else in the Videography industry as I simply didn't learn BASIC elements needed within the industry (such as editing on Final Cut Pro). How embarrassing as a FILM MAJOR, that I can't even edit on Final Cut Pro (the industry standard) because Suffolk didn't teach me how to - now I have to spend MORE money doing outside courses when really it shouldn't have been part of the core of teaching at Suffolk.

My overall impression - Suffolk really doesn't care about your future, who you are, or what you bring to the table later on in life. They just don't. They want your money and that's it. Look at all the scandals going down in the University right now - during my time, the current president of the school was THE HIGHEST PAID UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT IN AMERICA. And for what? What are we getting back? Nothing, and I'm speaking as a prime example.

Just absolutely ridiculous. It really is an institution for rich kids who don't want to do any work but still want to pass just to get a degree for the sake of making their parents happy. If you want that kind of life in school, by all means, go to Suffolk - you can pass with your eyes closed. But be warned - you WILL pay for it later.

Just feel like my life is in way more of a mess now than BEFORE I went to Suffolk. Wish I could rewind time - and that's the kind of thinking that will bring you down. Take my advice - find a better school. Keep this as your last option.
