That is shocking, and ridiculous about the last part regarding the aviation prayer. I’m unfortunately an avaition student here and got sucked in from the UND advertisements. I do regret enrolling in the aviation program here, especially since I am an out of state student |
Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
Three years into the aviation program getting a multi engine rating now - 80000 dollars in debt. Since girls are only 25% of the aviation students I feel out of place all the time even though I?m a more experienced student - some of the stage pilots (girls and guys) are way harsher with girls and sometimes yell at them during a check ride (trust me, it?s happened to me and several of my girl friends). You?re treated like a number and the entire program is rote memorization requiring no critical thinking or creativity. RETHINK YOUR LIFE if you are considering going here. The first weekend I moved in freshman year, my parents and I passed a frat house in our car with a giant poster hanging from the deck saying ?she called you daddy for 18 years, now it?s our turn?. In the aviation department itself, there is ZERO diversity. Right now there are two black girls in the program and a few black guys. Other than that and the international student, EVERYONE else is white and close minded. I was at a scholarship banquet and the DEAN OF AEROSPACE said in front of everyone (international students from Asia, middle east, and students from all over the US), ?okay, now everyone bow your heads and pray to God?. That is how you know you?re in the middle of nowhere and in a bubble. I?m queer and was out in high school, but would NEVER be out of the closet up here. This is the most close minded school (especially aerospace) you will ever see.
