The good news: Rutgers has a stellar faculty which rivals those of the nation's most elite universities. Considering the size of the university, faculty members are reasonably accessible to students. The bad news: Rutgers has the potential for true academic excellence. However, their sad devotion to "big time" professionalized college athletics often causes funds to be diverted from more worthy causes. It's heartbreaking to see deteriorating libraries and classrooms on a daily basis, while the university spends money building state of the art athletics facilities for their hired "student-athletes".
