Wayland is not just open to those of Baptist denomination. The atmosphere is centered around Scripture, but there are hundreds of students who attend because of athletics, or academics, or many other non-religious reasons. I don't believe there is a school around with a faculty or staff that cares more for their students. My professors are very patient and understanding. They are entirely fair, and have shown compassion in times when I was unable to turn in an assignment due to family or personal issues. Tutoring is readily available, and I found that professors are more than willing to meet privately to discuss a paper or test.

Plainview isn't the most exciting place to live, but the student body has creative ways of working around the stillness of the town.

The campus isn't "gorgeous", but they are working on the buildings. Plans are in the works for new buildings (including a new Religion building), more landscaping, and they've been adding sculptures and artwork to the campus.

They just built a new recreation center, and it is a great place to hang out or grab a healthy snack.

I cannot sing enough praises of the School of Music or the School of Religion. Both are absolutely excellent. The professors are willing to bend over backwards for their students. The mission trips the Religion department takes are wonderful opportunities for travel. The School of Music is going to Germany this year. They've been to China, Russia, Spain, etc.

Wayland is continually expanding and adding more majors (new majors are expected to be added in the fall of 2011, including a new degree in Graphic Design). They're even starting their football program again this fall! Some schools get stuck in their ways, and stop growing. After more than 100 years since Wayland opened its doors on the south plains, they're still adding masters degrees, majors, new departments, new buildings, new schools, and appealing to a wider array of students. I would highly recommend Wayland to anyone.
