This is exactly my experience at Loyola. The ambitious students WILL shine. The others do well too. They just look bad in comparison to the serious students. |
^ Typical Uptight Loyola Student, only cares about academics. Not all, but a good amount will be like this. Do you want that? LOL Do you want to be in class with others that want to try to make you look bad?? Rolleyes…Failll |
^ No one actually WANTS to make others look bad. That's just what happens when you spend a lot of your time studying trying to get into med school. Sheesh. talk about putting words in people's mouths. I'm sorry if you thought EVERYONE was uptight, maybe you didn't get out enough and meet the right people. |
Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The first thing people should know about this school is that it's absolutely beautiful. It's right next to the lake and some of the buildings are old, but they have that really classy old feel to them, especially Cudahy Hall and Cudahy Library, and they look real amazing next to some of the newer high tech buildings like Quinlan and the information commons.Other positive things to highlight about the university is that the social atmosphere is very welcoming. The students are very friendly and easy to befriend, though there are a few assholes, they're outnumbered by the compassionate and helpful. If you're over 21, a lot of students hang out at Hamilton's on Thursdays and Fridays. If you live downtown, then you have the whole city to explore and experience. The professors and faculty are very helpful and nurturing. If you're unsure of what to major in, don't worry, you'll probably meet a professor here you'll fall in love with who will help you decide. Many of professors are also very active around campus, so if you're looking to join a club or if you're a science student looking to do research, you'll find somebody to help you do it, and the professors love it when students are motivated to participate outside of class. On the downside, many of the students here are pre-med(this school is known for it), so you'll meet a lot of grade crazy, hyper-ambitions/competitive types around here. Some of the classes are also overcrowded, especially in the science departments, so if you have a very strict schedule of classes to follow till graduation, you should look into the honors program, because they get first choice in classes. Just a little under 50% of students at Loyola don't finish in 4 years. Basically, if you want to do well here, be prepared to be highly self-motived and active, otherwise you easily get out-shined by the other students here. You'll meet some pretty crazy stellar students here who seem to have their hand in everything and also some pretty lazy ones too.
