Montclair State University is a great university that's getting better all the time! Now a Division III school, in a couple of years (3 or so), Montclair will no doubt be a Division I University, and probably the best public university in NJ!!! Why? Go to www.montclair.edu and click on the picture of the bird at the bottom right of the page. You'll see all the improvements that have been made to and are in store for the university! In NJ, a Montclair State education remains the best, highest quality and cheapest investment you can make for your future.

OK, first of all, the person who posted the comment below mine had no right to reply to what someone else has said! That's illegal according to the rules of this website! Also, what she is saying has nothing to do with the "traditional" definition of a university! Second of all, who cares about the definition of a "traditional" university? Students come here to learn about what the university is actually like, not what you'd like it to be. Oops, I'm sorry, I hope she can keep up:-)

And, even by her standards, Montclair State is indeed a university: there are established doctoral programs, business/art schools, and research does occurs in all department!!!!! Get your facts straight! Or leave Montclair and its $8000/year tuition/fees and pay $40000/year to go to Princeton! What she doesn't understand is that unlike private schools like Princeton and public schools like Rutgers and the College of New Jersey, Montclair State does not get as much funding for anything, especially for research, as these schools, eventhough Montclair State is the 2nd largest university in NJ, with about 16,000 students. Only Rutgers-New Brunswick takes care of more students than Montclair (about 26000). But guess what, that's changing as we speak, here's why:

1. Montclair has the best, most luxurious residence halls/dorms in the nation (aka the Village)

2. Montclair State is closer to NYC than any other large university! There are 2 train stations on campus, one of them actually named

Montclair students get a 25% discount on all NJ Transit services! If you wanna go to NYC and enjoy the good life, Montclair State is the place for you!

3. Yes, parking is problem at MSU, but by Summer 06, it won't be anymore. Why? Because gigantic parking decks are being added to campus: the Red Hawk Deck, completed in 2003, hold 1100 cars; the NJ Transit Deck, open in 2004, holds 1500 cars; the last parking deck, to be opened in 2006, will hold about 2500 cars! So if you plan to commute to MSU, parking will no longer be problem after the last parking is completed!

4. NJ's most high-tech, best, student recreation center will begin to rise up very soon (by spring 05) on the MSU campus: it will include a fitness with all the amenities, an indoor pool and track; several basketball courts, eateries, lounges, and so much more!

5. Montclair's athletic facilities, for an underfunded university, are extraordinary! The largest university baseball stadium in NJ! Yogi Berra stadium: home to the New Jersey Jackals Minor league baseball team!!! Montclair is also home to: The New Jersey Lacrosse Team, the NY/NJ Juggernaut Softball Team, and so much more! Trust me, when it comes to athletics, other than Rutgers New Brunswick, Montclair State is the best public university to go to!

6. Keep in mind that Rutgers New Brunswick is an extremely large university, so unlike Montclair, you will get lost and will be just a number!

7. I'll be honest, Montclair was not my first choice university, but did you know that Montclair is the only public university in NJ where your SAT scores and class rank alone can earn you a full scholarship!!!!!!!! That's right! Don't believe me? Get a Montclair State application or go online and check out the financial aid section. I'm currently enjoying that scholarship, and believe me, it'll be worth it: I'll graduate from college debt free! Did you know that neither Rutgers nor private schools like Princeton offer full scholarships like this? And if they do, the requirements are a lot more ridiculous!
