I
applied and was accepted to CAS at NYU when it
was in the height of its popularity and competitiveness with
the ivy league. I did well in HS and was
desperate to live in NYC. I didn't fully consider the
social life or academics before I made my decision to
attend NYU. BAD IDEA!
If you come from modest means,
NYU is NOT the place for you. There are very,
very few “campus” activities to participate in, and general social
life consists of going out to expensive bars and clubs.
Financial aid is a joke if your parents make more
than $60k combined. Which is crazy considering the cost per
year exceeds 40k! Also, I would not recommend taking out
mountains of loans. You would think that a degree from
NYU would help you get high paying, FT job after
graduation... WRONG again!
Academics in CAS are sad. Just
sad. Your first two years (or longer) are filled with
requirements that have ZERO value. It was like boring, stupid
torture that I actual PAID FOR. I have so many
regrets.
