I will make a important points, as this school is pretty diverse. One, the art school and the Hartt school are incredible. If you are interested in music, this school is absolutely up there with Berklee in Boston. DO NOT BE FOOLED! This is the only good point. Other than that, the education is pretty much worthless, the students are interested in drinking and smoking a lot of marijuana. Frankly, classes are completely secondary, but if you are looking for a 32,000/yr party, this is your place! I am currently in the process of transferring, and while I will absolutely enjoy my friends and the people for the next few months, I will not be looking back once I'm gone!
Another small detail: The campus is not asthetically appealing. It's pretty ugly, and when it rains or snows, the campus is a pit. Be prepared to get saturated in mud and water on your way to class -- there is absolutely no way to avoid it.Try to stay away from Hartford. The city is poor, and the greek life is a joke (the frat-boys/sorority sisters are complete assholes...). The school is falling apart, and the education is pretty horrid.

University of Hartford is a very bad university with a lot of good schools within it. The Hartt school of Music, Dance, and Theatre is one of the country's finest. The Hartford art school and the Barney School of Business are also highly reputable. But the college of Arts and sciences and Hillyer attract a very unmotivated bunch of students that distract from the overall educational aspect of the school. As far as organized social activities are concerned, the school lacks any. However many students enjoy getting together and drinking for fun. In the fall and spring the campus is very pretty. Theres's not much you can do about winter anywhere. The dorms are decent, but when something needs matinence, be prepared to wait. Overall I am having a positive experience at school.(it's just easier to harp on the negative stuff)I'm a musical theatre major and the conservatory training is wonderful. The few required academic courses w/ the general university are easy and even the honors classes aren't too challenging. (probably community college level)...I would not rate the school as bad but I don't think we get the value for our tuition, especially in the campus life aspect of the university.

“UHA is actually pretty cool.BrightArt & Design Department
UHA is actually pretty cool. The art program is awesome, i met amazing people there, both friends and faculty. The University seems to be making improvements in ways i can't complain about. It's position between Boston and New york is pretty convenient for weekend trips. The city is kind of boring but adds to the scenery.
