Queen's University lives up to its standard that it is situated in Kingston "the Limestone City". But unfortunately being surrounded by beautiful architecture and aesthetically pleasing surroundings does not round off someone's universoity experience. The city lacks a diverse nightlife after all it is a small town.
As for the student body, the predominance of people in the school are not minorities. altouhg the school stresses the fact that they are diverse one must realize that this is a subjective opinion.
I advise all prospective students of a minority group (Black , Hispanic etc.)to visit the school during a time period when classes are in session in order to view the lack off diversity. And only then you will be able to make a decision that is right for you. Because if you do not feel that you will ever belong in this type of school environment do not spend four years there. It is best to choose a school that you feel comfy in with alot of dic=versity and this is something that Quees does not possess.It has a predominance of Whites and Asians.
But on the other hand the academic environment is exceptional. Certain professors are quite approchable and speak to their students on a human level. They are not arrogant and they actually care about how much you are learning. Some classes at night are even quite entertaining depending on the prof you manage to get.
On the other hand teaching assistants are a pit fall beacuse they correct your assignments extremely harder than the professor would have.It is as if they are trying to prove a point or something. But there are some that are quite helpful.

“I got my B.Super BrilliantComputer Engineering
I got my B.Sc in Computer Engineering from Queen's University in 2003. I think I had a great overall undergraduate experience--the social life, the friends, the teachers, the personal growth. Queen's has a great engineering education (I think sciences and business at Queen's are great too) and they're one of the few schools where students are taught to think before diving ahead into industry related stuff. In fact, in my field, I hadn't learned anything in university directly applicable to my work but the education I got taught me to be flexible and adapt to virtually any situation I am in these days. I think this is a good approach. Other places may teach stuff that's used in industry at uni (like specific languages like java or specific skills like j2ee or .net or whatever). But what most people don't realize is that these things are so rapidly evolving that a course in one of those might be outdated by the end of the semester! It's good to just step back and think about the skills needed to think and solve problems and that's what Queen's gave me. In other aspects, I absolutely fell in love with Queen's campus and it's manifold activities. It's really a different feeling from a cold campus in the middle of some bustling city. You just have to be in it to know what it feels like.

Queen's lives up to a lot of its stereotypes. A lot of the student body is composed of "Queensy" kids who all look and act the same. But there are so many other people who will defy your expectations and will let you ignore all the annoying ones. And besides, if you really put your heart into your studies at Queen's, you will be rewarded, because the professors and resources are fantastic, at least in the faculty of Arts.
