Falculty in the financial aid department were extremely rude and condescending. If you encounter a problem with financial aid or tuition payments, be prepared to be threatened and harrassed by the staff. There is absolutely no attempt to help you when money is involved; they want their money and that's all they care about.
Parking is a total joke. If you have stadium parking be prepared to be forced to park 10 minutes from campus at a moment's notice. Sports events and paid parking events have priority over students despite paying almost $200 a year to use a lot that is subpar anyway. Also, if there is any sort of snowy weather be prepared to walk across a sheet of ice. It is ignored by maintence staff and is never treated for that type of weather.
Events are also unorganized and often interrupt attempts to study or have class. Don't be surprised when a pep rally is organized outside a building with classes in session.
Don't expect to have much of a social life either. UofL is a commuter school and it is extremely difficult to make friends. People don't stick around campus and it is usually dead by 4:00.
Finally the worst part about the school is that they put sports before education. Currently there are three projects going on including new fields for soccer and softball, costing millions of dollars. Now I understand why my tutition has gone up thousands of dollars since my first year at UofL.
I spent two years paying for University requirements that were pointless to my major, and insulting to my intellect;
75% of my tuition money was spent on re-plating the gold on the chandeliers in the dorm rooms of star athletes instead of on my education;
Since I'm not part of a fraternity or a major athlete, social life seems to be non-existent because I'm not willing to drink to the point of inebriation in exchange for social acceptance;
The classrooms I study in are in dilapidated buildings, although the University continuously upgrades athletics facilities;
And despite all of this, the University continues to turn its back on the regular students and gouge them for more money instead of helping them.
In 1997, U of L announced that it was working toward having a premier athletic program. Since then, education quality has been the same, although tuition has skyrocketed. As you walk around campus, you will notice that average classrooms meant to cater to students are antiquated, and dorms continue to crumble. But when you look at the athletics offices, you see where your tuition money is really going: A-class equipment; climate-controlled offices and dorms; daily maid services; etc. For everyone else, you're just a cash cow.If my parents hadn't graduated from here and pressured me into coming here, I would have never attended this slum. You're a walking dollar-sign to this university, not a student or even a person. If you're not a star athlete, don't even bother looking at this place. You'll spend less money and get a better education at any regular community college than coming here.
