SVSU is a very bad college to attend.AveragePreMed and Medical
SVSU is a very bad college to attend. I attend college to learn medicine. SVSU has allowed themselves to integrate technology for doing assignments, and especially homework. For example: My homework assignments online in canvas through Mc Graw hill in anatomy 253 take me 3 to 4 hours to complete and are due at 11:59 pm. Well there is another grueling and aggravating additional class I didn't sign up for that was dropped in my lap on top of the real and NORMAL 3 hour lecture class. I had a 4.0 GPA in the last college I attended in 2022 in North Carolina. I have to work full-time and I do not have the time to complete these and other technology created workloads above and beyond the normal class I was expecting to take. The kind where you go to class, listen to the lecture and take notes, where you get handouts passed out to you that you can study, and homework assignments in the book. That is real and normal college the way it has worked for hundreds of years. Suddenly you get the bright idea, to change everything, integrate technology, because you don't want to use a printer to make handouts and tech college as it has always been taught. This will be my semester at this college and the world has lost a great medical doctor because of this horse sht. I'm done with SVSU and any other college or university employing thse same educational practices.

Question
I would only go to SVSU if youBrightNursing
I would only go to SVSU if you have NO other choice! I attended SVSU because of the financial aid package they gave me, making the cost next to none. At the time it felt like the best option, all colleges are the same right? Wrong. I was a nursing major at the time, which the school had a good reputation for. The general education classes however, my experience was not the best. My english professor Karyn Harris was terrible, very harsh grader, very unprofessional and lousy teacher. I recommend you avoid her at all costs If you do decide to come here. Also avoid Dr Dennis grey in the biology department and also Gary what's his name in the statistics department. I did not have much of a positive experience with professor choice, all I can say is CHOOSE THEM WISELY, use rate my professor.com to see all of the rating on your teachers. Another comment! If you like Spanish take Dr Colorado Garcia, she is fantastic, very participation oriented, she really knows how to teach!

Another concern I had with SVSU was the dorms! I went into college thinking the more roommates the merrier, less chance I won't be alone on the weekend. Being alone was exactly what I needed I had 7 other roommates all crammed in a 4 bedroom suite! The roommate selection progress is crap so make sure you find a roommate before signing up for housing, I got matched with a bunch of girls who were all best friends in high school, not a good situation.

Lastly, the social life! There is not much to do on the weekends, campus is a ghost town and the dining hall doesn't open until 11. The clubs/organizations offered at the school are very diverse so there is a lot to choose from. I did not find any that interests me myself because most are more fund raising and less volinteering. I advise you to join alternative breaks, for $200 you can go on a volunteer trip for a week!

Overall I think SVSU needs improvement, I will give it a solid 6. If you like teaching yourself the material in class, staying in your dorm like a hermit and being roomed with a polar opposite of yourself, this university will be a good fit! I transferred out of svsu, I am at Wayne State pursuing a degree in education and I love it! So of you ever find yourself at Wayne, I would love to talk more about svsu!

Question
I was really excited to come to SVSUAverageCommunications
I was really excited to come to SVSU but now that I'm here, I am transferring out. I've liked my classes and I've liked professors, but I hate the dorm I'm in, and I hate the isolation on the weekends when everyone goes home but me. It's not a fun place to be, even if I got a scholarship. Not worth it. I'd advise against it unless you are just coming to campus for class and not living here.
