Being a 4th year student at the UniversityQuite BrightAerospace Engineering
Being a 4th year student at the University of Michigan, I must truly say I have made the wisest decision of my life. I was a California resident, but three years ago I had to choose between coming to Michigan or staying in CA at UCLA. I chose Michigan because of its superb academic reputation, distinguished faculty, outstanding athletics, and great facilities. And to this day, I have no regrets. I don't understand why a small number of people have doubts about the quality of education you receive here, but I think Michigan is one of the very best university in the U.S. along with Stanford, Princeton, and UC Berkeley. The President of Stanford University wrote a letter to the US NEWS editor criticizing their rankings system. He specifically mentioned that "the University of Michigan and the University of California at Berkeley should be ranked in the top half-dozen" of all national universities. All of Michigan's programs are ranked, and most of them are in the top 10, especially in Engineering, Medicine, Business, Law, Social Work, Music, etc. What more can you ask for? I must mention that the only downside of the University of Michigan is the cost of attendance for out-of-state students. If Michigan wants to continually attract the brightest and most talented high school students, they must reduce the cost of tuition and provide more financial aid. High school seniors thinking about coming to Michigan, you must be very prepared academically. Not only should you get high grades and SAT scores, you should also participate in extracurricular activities (We're not talking about quantities, but the quality and the duration of participation). I hope this will help and clarfiy many uncertainties many high school students have regarding the University of Michigan. Good luck and Go Blue!

Question
If anyone is going for their BFA inQuite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
If anyone is going for their BFA in the arts, please do me a favor and disregard University of Michigan as your choice. Not only is it a waste of time and money but I am so frustrated that I am in a situation where if I do transfer, I have to start all over again because most schools don't accept the credits I've already taken here. Overall, I rate the school 1 out of 10.

Question
I would have gone to a smaller school.Electrical Engineering
I would have gone to a smaller school. I don't think that going to a 'good' school has had anything to do with me being successful or not -- I am successful because I cannot accept anything less -- not because of some 'world class' or 'top ranked' education. Frankly, it wasn't that great.
So, going to a 'large' school really only made me unhappy and bored. Finding friendly, quality people is so much harder at a large school.
