Minnesota State University - Mankato

For a state school this is a super amazing value. There is a lot of things to do and you can have so much potential. The technology on campus is the best I have seeen. They stretch the money you put in to the absolute best. The buildings are in great shape and the ones getting old get updated or replaced. The faculty and administration are very nice and helpful and are truely there for the students.

Education Quality: A+, Campus Aesthetics: B+

One of the greatest myths in higher education is that you must attend an "elite" university to be successful in life. Nothing could be further from the truth. Beyond your first job interview/graduate school, nobody will ever care from where you received your degree. The vast majority of successful people I have encountered in my career have been alumns of some Nowhere State University. Your performance in your current job is the most important factor in your career growth.

That being said, I have nothing but praise for my experience at MSU (then Mankato State). I truly believe I received a wonderful education that allowed me to compete effectively with anyone, including the "Ivy Leaguers" I encountered in my work. My wife is also an MSU grad and she has also been highly successful in her career. Your college experience is directly related to your attitude, effort and outlook...if you work hard and have a positive attitude...you will have a great experience. If not, you won't. It's that simple.My final piece of advice is to major in a field of study that interests you, but don't skimp on the traditional Liberal Arts. Learn to think and communicate effectively...it will serve you well no matter where life takes you...and almost everyone eventually ends up in a career completely different from what the studied in college.

I have attended three different universities, and obtained both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The universities that I attended were in Minnesota and Texas.

I very much enjoyed the Mankato campus and the quality of education that I received.
I am from a major metropolitan area and thoroughly enjoyed the campus, and the geographical area. I found the student body and the professors to be very engaging. While at Mankato I made lasting friendships that I enjoy today.

The campus is more user friendly today than when I attended. I believe that it was/is a good value. It does blend rural and urban views and that is a positive.
