College is a once in a lifetime experience.Quite BrightChemistry
College is a once in a lifetime experience. You get to meet new friends and have the time of your life. If you're looking for this in a college, then Creighton is NOT FOR YOU. Omaha just isn't a college town. It doesn't even compare to Lincoln or Kearney. However, on plus side Creighton is an outstanding university in the midwest and offers great programs of study. It's probably the best academic university in the area. Also, Creighton isn't in the safest part of Omaha. It's in the middle of the ghetto and cars are always getting broken into in the parking lots. Once a man even came on campus in the middle of the day and robbed the bank (no one was hurt).

Question
Creighton faculty seems to be so caught upQuite BrightNursing
Creighton faculty seems to be so caught up in their reputation that they have forgotten that they are here to TEACH! The emphasis is on pointless busywork, instead of leaving time to absorb what is being learned. Apparently it is important to read every page of every book, and it is up to the student to determine which parts are important. There is no guidance or direction, and when concerns are voiced, the heads nod, and the ears close. I do not get the impression that they are interested in making this an enjoyable or exciting learning experience.

Question
If you are a pre-med or pre-health student,Quite BrightPsychology
If you are a pre-med or pre-health student, this is a university you must take a look at. I started out pre-med and it has to be one of the finest pre-med educations in the nation, and many med schools treat it with that kind of respect.

If you are a business student, you will find a pretty strong business school here that should get you into many good graduate schools if that is what you want. The Creighton name is also very strong in the Midwest, and if you want to stay around here, it is something you will benefit from.

If you would like to go to one of Creighton's graduate schools, look here! There is a great preference program which will give you a huge leg up in getting into the program you want!

If you are none of the above, you may want to look elsewhere. I have been dissapointed in the psychology department here because frankly, like many others, the university doesn't focus on them. The university is focused on medicine, and I think it always will be. Psychology here is simply weak, and the professors we have seem very weak compared to other comperable schools (look for yourself).

Creighton is a great school if your major fits in right, but if you are one like me where you are not in one of Creighton's strengths, it is easy to feel like the university has forgotten about you. My interest is in counselling psychology and I can't find professors with similar interests to do research with. Most of the research has a medical tilt, and most of the professors have that interest again due to the focus of the school. If you are a pre-med, come here! You will thank yourself! If you are not, you may want to reconsider. It is still a good school, but there are better programs out there! I will say however that the financial aid here is usually good!
