Freshman year, only two of seven teachers spoke clear english. The campus does not feel safe. However, the quality of education in my opinion rates above average, but not outstanding.

I would recommend choosing another school. Most of the professors in the engineering classes (which most students are here for) can't speak clear English. Math classes are among the hardest anywhere. Don't expect help if you aren't doing well, you have to go looking for it. If you live here, you are forced to buy a meal plan and get robbed of at least $60 because of the way it is set up (see http://web.njit.edu/~wrw2/facts.html). Male to female student ratio is around 70% to 30%. Faculty is even worse in that regard. The only reason I can foresee for choosing this school over another is the dorms themselves. The buildings are new (oldest built in '79) and for the most part in good shape. Beware of pest infestation in old dorm.
