Positive Negative Neutral Advice
NYU HATES ASIAN AMERICANS.Super BrilliantFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
NYU HATES ASIAN AMERICANS. As an Asian, this is the most racist school in this already racist country. I am enrolled in the Tisch School of the Arts and I critique students' works honestly. Because of my negative opinions, I was physically attacked and the professor, Laszlo Santha, laughed at me instead of calling security. I also hold other controversial beliefs and for that, Chairman David Irving spread rumors about me to professors and students so that they could reduce my grades and so that I could be attacked more. Numerous professors -- Peter Barton, Lamar Sanders, Susan Leber, Robert Honor, Darrel Wilson, and Kelly Reichardt -- tried to have me expelled because I hold different beliefs than they do. I recieved so many death threats I lost count (and if you go to NYU, you probably know who I am).

Furthermore, the white people here are cravens. They cling to one another as if other people's opinions were all that mattered to them. I swear, in every single class, whenever I do something original, they all murmur to each other like animals. Darrel Wilson tried to discourage me from expressing my opinions (ironic for an ART school) by telling me that "you will face enormous opposition" and that "the majority does not believe in what you believe". Oooh, I'm sooooo scared. Caucasians may depend on others to believe what they believe, but I'm a much stronger Asian man. But then again I should pity them. White people here are all the same. They act the same, they look the same, and heck, they make pretty much the same films. It's really sad.

The last part of my rant is about the teaching. The professors teach bull. There is nothing to learn here except how you can blow your money on four years of shit. NYU tries to train students to be more submissive to people of higher power. Art ain't something you train for.

However, I think Asians should go here just for the university name and for the resources. It's pretty much the same everywhere, so I guess NYU is the best place to go after all. I have two published sci fi novels, and all without NYU's help. I just turned 21 years old.

Question
What I'm about to say I have readNot so bright
What I'm about to say I have read on this and many other sites long before I got here, but I was stupid and did not listen. NYU was my dream school since I was 12, but it is obvious to me now that I fell in love with a fantasy, not the depressing reality that haunts the halls of this shallow overpriced school. I have only been here for THREE days and am already transferring to a community college until I can transfer to Rutgers for the Spring Session. I HATE IT THAT MUCH. Take it from someone who was OBSESSED with this school, if you are a good looking, social, overall pretty NORMAL female PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. Everyone here is fucking wierd, you will not even WANT to be friends with the wierdos you encounter here. and Dating? FORGET ABOUT IT. All the guys are GAY, unattractive, socially awkward. There is NO community. NO parties. I don't care what anyone on here says. If you want to have fun you have to first, SEARCH endlessly for it online, and then attempt to go to some random bar/club. Then, pay 20 bucks just to sit around and not drink, because the clubs and stuff are getting pretty strict around here. The security is SO strict, you can't even come back to the dorms trashed, if you can even find anywhere to get trashed .And dorm parties aren't worth it they get broken up within minutes. And you get into serious trouble for alcohol here. I came into this knowing it wasn't a typical college experience, but i still thought I would have a social life and be HAPPY. This place just makes you MISERABLE. Everything about it makes you want to cry in a corner all day. The city is lonely, millions of people and you will feel more alone than you ever have in your life. The feelings nyu breeds are of the rarest form, you'll never be more depressed than when you attend this school. and unless you go to Tish, ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It's no ivy league, and you will be miserable for 50 thou a year. Have fun paying off that debt in this economy. FRESHMAN; GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN. My classes didn't start so I get a full refund. I don't care if I'm a bum for the rest of my life, ANYTHING is better than this fucking depression.

Question
I couldnt not condemm this school more.BrightPreMed and Medical
I couldnt not condemm this school more. The social situation is absolutely horrendous. My first semester I was absolutely depressing many Friday and Saturday nights were spent alone in my room playing video games. This was especially difficult for me because in high school I would party with friends very often. The crippling loneliness that is present in this school is absolutely mind blowing. Many kids and I emphasize many kids just feel isolated as their is no centralized campus or party scene to really meet people at. Another important thing to address is the fact thay Nyu is in new york city. Many people think that because you are in nee york city there are plenty of things to do, but quit frankly if you are under 21 there is nothing you can do whatsoever. Bars and clubs are extremely strict and even if you do manage to get an A tier id bouncers in nyc know their sh*t and your changes of getting in on a constant bases is near zero. Another problem is the sheer expensiveness of the city. I am lucky to be relatively richi but I had a lot of really cool friends who I wanted to hang out with but they could not afford to come out. This literally led us to growing apart and sort of builds class differences in the school where high income students only hang out with high income students and low income with low income.. this leads to a lot of hatred between the two. Nyu has also been extemely strict on the very slim to non-existsnt greek life. Over the past 20 years they hve convered the frat houses into office buildings and frats are basically just groups of guys who hang out and occasionally rent clubs, only now nyu is attacking even these groups of friends because apparently every straight male is a sexual predator. Being a straight male on campus is actually just a disasterous situation. To sum up it you want to go out it can costs 100s of dollars and if you plan on joining a frat to make friends you will be constantly under attack by the ridiculous administration. The only remotely social thing to do is attempt to blaze in the dorms while trying not to get caught by the RA on duty. If you want any semblance of a social life do not attend this school, the academics are good, but oh god the social life is disastrous. There is a reason 10% of freshman transfer out of the school.
