Bing-o is what you make of it and i mean that...You can work the system, do nothing and get decent grades and spend all your freetime at the rat or you can take advantage of the many resources, both academically and socially and make your four years worthwhile.

IF you major in psychology you will only have 2 classes smaller then 40 people. While this makes it hard to get to know your profs, do well and make an effort. One of the advatages of going to a larger university like this is that there are many positions to help out with research. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS.

Also...while the town is dead and if you frequent the bars you will see the same people again and again...there are tons of clubs and organizations on campus to get involved with.

SUm it up...
If i was to do it again I would have asked around and taken the easier(this is subjective as some courses i did well in were not easier for some and vice versa...learn quickly which material and teaching practices you work best with) courses...got good grades...and used that leftover brain energy to enrich my education more with out-of-class experiances such as RA positions, internships and volenteer work...

because Psych 000 with prof EASY looks the same on your transcript as PSYCH 000 with Prof HARD...and you know tomarrow you are gonna forget 98% of the info you crammed into your brain 6 hours before a test...and those outofclass experiances make for nice things to put on your resumes and happy reference letters.

oh...and i alsoo would have gotten involved in clubs right off the bat...cause that means more people you get to know...leading to more drinkin buddies and more dates.

and aim gets old afterawhile.

I am absolutely glad that I chose to attend Binghamton University. There is a huge plethora of things to do here on campus. I believe there about 170-200 clubs on campus, with plenty of sports teams (no football unfortunately), and lots of events. This year, the University programming board got Incubus, Green Day, and Bob Dylan to perform concerts at the amazing new Events Center. There are a strip of bars in Binghamton, the most popular ones being Rathskellar's Pub (nicknamed The Rat), and the Sports Bar. There is no excuse for boredom here. Academically, I love my classes. Although, you are not guaranteed to always have an amazing professor teach your classes. I know some people who have had TA's teaching better than the professors themselves. The majority of these kinds of classes where the professor may not be that great is in the physics and math departments. English, History, Economics, Management, Engineering, Nursing, Anthropology, Chemistry, and several other departments are extremely top notch.

It seems people either love or hate SUNY Binghamton. People here don't like it mostly because of the cold weather in the winter, and the city of Binghamton is not the typical college town. Many people come from NYC and have a hard time adjusting to the suburban/rural lifestyle that upstate NY is known for. Take these reviews with a grain of salt, but ultimately, the decision where you choose to go to college is yours and yours alone.
