Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I had both a positive and a negativeReligion/Religious
I had both a positive and a negative experience at BJU. The positive part was once I excepted the rules and the discipline that BJU required of me as a student. The negative experience came with my attitude, before I decided to yield myself to what my authorities were asking of me. Sure I didn't enjoy having a curfew and I didn't enjoy getting up early in the morning, but those silly rules taught me how to discipline myself and it did build character! Once you do graduate and get out into the "real world" you'll have to learn to do these things in life on your own. My days at BJU were the best days of my life. I met friends that I will have for the rest of my life, I feel in love for the first time, I surrender to my life to God; and now my husband and I work at a church as the Youth Directors. I wouldn't take back my time at BJU for anything. I would highly recommend it to those who need some discipline in their life and who are man/woman enough to deal with it!

Atmosphere:
As the only graduating asian minority, born and raised a California and not a foreigner on a special program, I thought the school was very unfriendly in terms in it's acceptance of minorities. "Most" of the student body and faculty seemed to almost be used to seeing or reacting to people who weren't black or white and have no clue how to receive everyone else in between lol! Not being mean but I mean in my experiences you can encounter similar situations like that in any suburbia away from a major city, it's just as a California I think I'm a little more receptive to seeing different kinds of people or experiencing different situations...all in all I think it was more of plain ole culture shock.

Studies:
11pm Curfew lights out, 6:50am wake up bell, many require events - made studying very hard, it's a great way to learn to be disciplined but at a cost to ones social life, which is kinda sad considering college is the only place I think that a large group of like minded people your age are able to congregate and interact.

Institution:In my humblest opinion this place is very easy to get bitter against any kind of organized religion, the only thing that kept me from doing so is the fact that the place is run by people, and people are not perfect in any way hence they will do/dictate rules or whatever based on their opinions. That being said, there are a lot of rules there to abide by, and in order to come out "normal" I think the only way is to learn the rules and then learn how to break them and get away with it and at the same time have fun doing so - form your own "Dead Poets Society".
