BJU was a very good experience that preparedAccounting
BJU was a very good experience that prepared me for the workplace. There are rules, but I visited prior to enrolling and I knew that going in. Ironically, my employers basically have many of the same rules, e.g. dress codes for males and females. For those who are surprised by the rules they either didn't do their homework upfront.

The training was fine and prepared me. While I was an accounting major, the English preparation has helped tremendously in my communication skills. Many recent univeristy graduates that we hire from public universities have poor communication skills, particularly written skills. What helped more was the atmosphere where I didn't have to worry about roommates misbehaving, lack of consideration, etc. Those who were forced to go there were unhappy, but the vast majority were fine and contributed to a positive experience. I met my wife of 23 years there and my best friend in college is still my best friend. I don't know where I would be without the relationships I developed there.

If a prospective student is interested, they should visit the campus, stay in the dorm rooms, visit classes and activities. There should be NO surprises. As with anything, an informed consumer makes the best decisions. The Lord directs in the lives of His children, and if you feel led to be at BJU, fear not. You'll have to work hard, but you'll do well.

My oldest son has decided that BJU will be his choice for college beginning the Fall of 2004. His Secondary education performance would allow him to matriculate almost anywhere. He knows he'll have to work hard and do well in his chosen field of study in order to prepare for his future. He'll have the opportunity, but the ball will be in his court with what he does with it.

Question
After reviewing several comments on BJU from severalQuite BrightAccounting
After reviewing several comments on BJU from several recent grads and current students I thought it appropriate to comment myself as a grad who has a bit more life experience. I am a CPA and have been so for almost 20 years. It is my opinion that university study is most important to prepare one for life and its struggles and successes and BJU prepares one exactly for that. I had some challenge with the accredidation issue but with some explanation, I was accepted by both my state society of CPAs and also the AICPA upon passing the exam. Although many students/graduates/outsiders seem to dwell on rules and regulations at the university, I found that it has prepared me for life in specific. For instance, all laws of out land I dont particularly agree with, however, I must abide by them....same with the university. If I wish to make myself miserable by dwelling on them, then that is my choice. I felt that I would try to understand them, try to agree with them and if not, still treat those rules with respect. I guess the university provided me with an excellent education but more importantly, taught me to think! What more could anyone ask of an educational institution?

Question
Recently a Iranian student attended this University withNot so bright
Recently a Iranian student attended this University with the expectation that he would be getting a quality education and have discussions on a wide variety of topics whether it be (politics, music, literature, economics, etc) little did he know that many things such as "punk rock", "liberal thought", "diversity", and many others are banned. After talking to my friend who quickly transferred this is what he told me, that in his native Iran " they have a bunch of Islamic fundamentalist running government claiming to have a divine right from god severely restricting the rights of people to do as they please (listen to music, read, have relations with members of the opposite sex) and that at bob Jones the same is true except you must replace Islamic fundamentalist with Christan fundamentalist. He said that if you wanted to partake in off campus activities you must get permission from the administration or risk being kicked out. He transferred (with none of his credits transferring because Bob Jones isn't accredited) to UNC. One suggestion DO NOT GO HERE unless your an Ultra (and I mean ULTRA) Conservative Christan fundamentalist!
