I had a wonderful experience at BJU.BrightAccounting
I had a wonderful experience at BJU. The school is not perfect, and sometimes the standards are different than my own personal ones. However, the school is very open about what it expects. I had a wonderful education which put me ahead of those from other schools who were graduating in accounting at the same time. Even 8 years later, my professors are available when I have questions.

Question
I always find it interesting to read commentsQuite BrightAccounting
I always find it interesting to read comments from others concerning the University. There are truly many miserable people out there seemingly willing to blame the University for ruining them. For me, I felt the University taught me to think. Sure there are rules. Tell me where in life there are none! Honestly, obeying any particular rule warped me not the least. Did I always agree? Certainly not but then again I don't particularly agree with all the speed limit RULES out there either...but I still abide by them. Concerning the education, I found myself within 5 years as a Controller of a multinational company, dealing with Graduate Students from Harvard. I will tell you this...I was able to stand toe-to-toe with them regarding Finance and Accounting issues with little difficulty. This was much to my surprise and theirs too! The school also taught me how to stand up for proper things...even when I worked with felons now going to jail for their participation in wrong-doings at Arthur Andersen and Enron....yes, I was there. The fact is, college is there to help you to grow up and think. Bob Jones University did it well. A fact for which I am thankful.

Question
During my time at BJU, I received anAccounting
During my time at BJU, I received an excellent, well-rounded education in accounting. Professors demonstrated a loving and helpful spirit in all my dealings with them. I graduated in 1984 and immediately had several offers from the largest accounting firms in several cities. Years later when I applied for grad school, I was accepted by 4 out of 5 that I applied to into a PhD program (all of which were in the top or second "tier" of accounting programs in the nation). Lack of accreditation for BJU was never an issue with any of my employers or with any of the grad schools. I suspect that those who have trouble getting into grad schools or have trouble getting jobs either didn't have high enough scores on standardized tests or failed to get acceptable letters of reference. Add in such variables as the economy, in-state preferences, and communication skills, and there are many reasons that a potential graduate student might get rejected by a grad program at a "state" school other than because of a lack of accreditation.
