And again, the academics are outstanding. I've had only one professor I might even complain about, and that was more a learning style conflict than anything else. The professors here are VERY focused on teaching, which is admirable.Put simply, it's full of very strange and frighteningly bright people - at last, a place where I am understood!
Many people do not realize how great LU is. I have spent one year in a "world-class" private college and one year in a junior college (plus the 3-odd years here). My second choice would be the junior college.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that, when I was college-shopping, I was basically looking for two things: Strong academics and wonderful professors. The private college had strong academics, but egotistical professors. The junior college had great professors, but (of course) weaker in academics. LU, though, has both. I never dreamed that I would be able to go up to the head of the Psychology department and say, "Hey you wanna go to McD's for lunch?" and she would! I never dreamed that an Engineering prof would leave his house accessible almost 24/7 for any student, not just those in his classes!
As far as Christianity goes, LU is amazing. The profs are not dogmatic, and they are not afraid to face challenges to Christianity. I guess you could say LU is a "thinking man's center of Christianity." There are things about LU that people will complain about, the food, the administration, etc., but such complaints are common in every school. You have to know where your priorities are.
