Jul 04 2013Mechanical Engineering
I am offended by the Gay-Lesbian push at the school - it is promoted with official vigor
Question
Jun 20 2008Mechanical Engineering
Very good and Quite place to complete your studies.
Question
Mar 25 2008Neuroscience/Cognitive Science
Go to med school! Architecture school! MBA! Law school! Academia is a dying breed.
Question
I was reading the comment of the otherAug 19 2006Engineering Department
I was reading the comment of the other person; and I have to object to it strongly. You will be amazed to see how good yet underranked this university is! I really mean it. SLC may be boring but the education is top notch. It is probably not very well known that Utah produces some of the best engineers. I earned PhD here and I do not regret it. This is best bargain top 50 school.
Question
I feel as though I wasted a yearJun 21 2005Engineering Department
I feel as though I wasted a year and a half of my academic life here. I was going to get a PhD here, but decided I'd rather just get a Master's and transfer somewhere good. The academics are lousy, unchallenging, and the subject matter is largely obsolete. Focus is on practical application, as opposed to background theory, and students are prepared to be industry drones instead of thinkers. A large fraction of the grad. students are foreign and can't speak English, which diminishes the opportunities for social interaction with coworkers.
