JMU had always been my first choice.Quite Bright
JMU had always been my first choice. I visited and fell in love with the beautiful campus and seemingly friendly atmosphere. Once I saw JMU I knew it was the only school I wanted to go to so I didn't spend much time looking into other colleges. I MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. This place is awful, all the students are SO STUCK UP. They are closed minded and only care about getting shitfaced every night of the week and doing nothing with their lives. Oh and the faculty sucks too. My professors have no idea how to teach and will not help me understand the material (they don't respond to emails, etc) It's a hellhole here. I'm transferring and I just want to say I absolutely hate this excuse for a school. INCOMING STUDENTS - PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT COME HERE. PLEASE. I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU.

The aesthetics of this place are horrible!!! ITS SO
UGLY HERE. An industrial park on the campus. The campus isdivided by highway 81. You have to walk underneath a mile long tunnel that smells of urine...I am so over JMU.

Question
I'm a freshman at JMU, and my adviceBright
I'm a freshman at JMU, and my advice to you is know what you are getting into before coming here. I came here to get away from the "high school" scene and didn't have much luck with that. JMU is a school that is concerned with academics til thursday and then its all alcohol and parties. But some people even drink on Monday and Tuesday nights. All everyone does on the weekends is go out and get drunk. If you are an alcoholic this school is perfect for you. The people here are extremely two faced and a lot of them came here with friends from high school. The girls are very slutty and get drunk, and the guys take advantage of that to get with girls they probably wouldn't if they were sober. There is actually nothing to do besides get drunk on the weekends. Harrisonburg can barely even be considered a town, its a dump. The weather gets really cold here. The professors are pretty good and definitely approachable and the course work is generally challenging. But think about the people before coming here, they don't really care about much besides getting drunk and high. If you are a big partier, welcome to paradise, but if you like a mix of things like me it sucks. I'm just glad they have such a wonderful gym, I spend 6 days a week there, and I'm just waiting for the end of the year and I'm getting the hell out of here. Don't come to JMU if you are looking for a mix of college experience. Come to JMU if all you care about is getting stoned or wasted.
